Kimberly Guilfoyle steps down as U.S. ambassador to Greece

Kimberly Guilfoyle resigned as the U.S. ambassador to Greece on Tuesday after the White House asked her to leave the post, according to several news reports.

Her departure came days after The Wall Street Journal reported that she had asked a Republican donor to help pay off a credit card bill of about $100,000 in exchange for access to the Trump administration. Another summary of the reporting said the request was made before her Senate confirmation hearing last year.

The allegations come from the Journal's reporting, and the summaries reviewed here do not include a response from Guilfoyle.

The post covers one of Washington's NATO partners in the eastern Mediterranean. The coverage reviewed does not say who will succeed her.
