Trump launches White House AI task force led by intelligence chief Jay Clayton

WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Donald Trump has created a new federal task force on artificial intelligence, led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, to coordinate the government’s approach to the fast-moving technology.

Trump, who calls the group the “Super Intelligence Force,” said it will help ensure America “continues to lead the World in Super Intelligence” and will “protect the interests, and improve the lives, of all Americans.”

Members include Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon chief technology officer Emil Michael and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor. The group will report to Trump and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles and plans to consult consumers, religious organizations, infrastructure providers and AI companies.

The announcement followed a White House meeting where top AI executives signed a voluntary agreement on developing the technology. Reports say the task force will look at the risks and opportunities of AI without hurting U.S. competitiveness with China.
