Judge extends order restoring White House press access for three news outlets
A federal judge ruled on Tuesday that the administration must keep White House press access in place for reporters from CNN, MS NOW and Politico while a legal challenge to the restrictions moves forward.
The judge extended an earlier order after finding that the revocation of nearly 80 reporters' hard passes likely violated due process and the First Amendment, according to a summary of the ruling.
Hard passes are the standing credentials that let journalists enter the White House grounds regularly without requesting access day by day.
The order stays in effect while the lawsuit continues, so the underlying dispute over who may hold a hard pass has not been settled.
